Antarctica Zone Takes Community Service to a New Level in Ajah, Lagos
In a remarkable demonstration of youth leadership, compassion, and commitment to community development, the Antarctica Zone of the Association of Humble and Obedient Youth carried out a community service initiative in Ajah and its environs, Lagos State, on 16 October 2026.
The initiative focused on two important areas of community development: raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among young people and providing support to small businesses operating within the community.
Through these activities, the Antarctica Zone demonstrated that meaningful community service goes beyond creating awareness. It also involves empowering people, supporting livelihoods, and contributing to the social and economic well-being of the communities in which they operate.
Raising Awareness Against Drug Abuse
As part of the outreach, members of the Antarctica Zone took the message against drug abuse to members of the public across Ajah and its environs.
Using banners, flyers, and direct engagement, the team sensitised residents and young people on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making responsible life choices.
The campaign addressed several key issues, including:
Health and well-being: Educating young people about the potential physical and psychological consequences of drug abuse.
Protecting the future: Highlighting how substance abuse can negatively affect education, careers, relationships, and family life.
Resisting peer pressure: Encouraging young people to make informed decisions and reject harmful influences.
Choosing positive alternatives: Promoting productive activities such as sports, skill acquisition, education, and other constructive pursuits.
The outreach reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in tackling drug abuse and building a healthier future for the next generation.

Supporting Small Businesses and Local Entrepreneurs
Beyond its anti-drug abuse awareness campaign, the Antarctica Zone extended its community service to support small businesses within Ajah and its surrounding areas.
Recognising the important role small businesses play in local economic development, the zone demonstrated its commitment to encouraging entrepreneurs and supporting the people whose daily efforts contribute to the community’s livelihood.
Small businesses provide essential goods and services, create employment opportunities, and help sustain families. Supporting these enterprises is therefore an important part of strengthening communities and promoting economic resilience.
The initiative reflected a broader understanding of community service: a commitment not only to addressing social challenges but also to encouraging economic empowerment and improving the welfare of ordinary people.

A Message of Humility, Obedience, and Responsibility
Speaking during the outreach, the Zonal Coordinator emphasised the association’s commitment to raising a generation of young people who embody humility, discipline, and obedience to positive values.
By combining public awareness with support for small businesses, the Antarctica Zone demonstrated how the values of humility and service can be translated into practical actions that benefit different sections of society.

Continuing the Mission of the Association of Humble and Obedient Youth
By addressing drug abuse while extending support to small businesses, the zone demonstrated that youth-led initiatives can contribute to both social well-being and local economic development.
As the association continues its mission, it remains committed to encouraging a generation that is humble in service, obedient to positive values, and dedicated to making a lasting difference.
