In furtherance of its commitment to education, youth development, and humanitarian service, the Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY), Aquatic Victoria Deck successfully organised an educational outreach aimed at introducing young learners to the opportunities and possibilities presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Held at Homat School of Basic Studies, Ikorodu, Lagos State, the outreach was themed “The AI-Generation: Creating Smarter Minds for a Smarter Future.” The initiative was designed to stimulate the curiosity of young learners, broaden their understanding of emerging technologies, and encourage them to explore innovative ways of applying technology to everyday challenges.

Empowering Young Minds Through Artificial Intelligence:
The outreach reflected AHOY’s belief that education remains a vital instrument for social development and that empowering young people requires more than traditional classroom instruction. It also involves exposing them to emerging ideas, practical knowledge, and opportunities that can prepare them for a rapidly evolving world.
Through this initiative, Aquatic Victoria Deck sought to introduce the students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, its growing relevance across different sectors, and its potential applications in education, creativity, problem-solving, and future careers.
The programme encouraged the students to look beyond simply using technology and begin thinking about how they could become creators, innovators, and responsible users of digital tools.

Interactive Learning and Guest Presentations:
The programme featured presentations by two guest speakers, who engaged the students on the subject of Artificial Intelligence and its relevance to the younger generation.
The sessions provided an opportunity for the students to gain new perspectives on technological developments, explore the possibilities available through digital learning, and reflect on the skills they would need to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven society.
The interactive nature of the programme encouraged participation and curiosity, reinforcing the importance of asking questions, sharing ideas, and developing a willingness to learn.

Bringing AI to Life Through Practical Demonstration:
A key highlight of the outreach was the practical exploration of how Artificial Intelligence can support the development of digital solutions.
Through a demonstration of AI-assisted application development, the students were introduced to the idea that technology can help transform an ordinary idea into a functional digital product. The exercise illustrated how AI tools can assist in developing applications and educational solutions, even for beginners who are just starting their technology journey.
The demonstration reinforced a central message of the outreach: young people do not have to wait until they become professional programmers before they begin exploring innovation. With curiosity, guidance, critical thinking, and the responsible use of AI tools, they can begin developing ideas that address real-life needs.
The session also highlighted the importance of human creativity, sound judgment, and verification when working with AI-generated information and solutions.

Questions, Engagement, and Shared Learning:
The programme incorporated a question-and-answer session that gave the students an opportunity to seek clarification, express their thoughts, and engage further with the subject.
This exchange formed an important part of the learning experience, encouraging the students to approach Artificial Intelligence with open minds while recognising the need for responsible and informed use.
Light refreshments were also provided during the programme, creating an opportunity for informal interaction and fellowship among participants.
Advancing AHOY’s Commitment to Education and Humanitarian Service:
The AI outreach represents an expression of Aquatic Victoria Deck’s broader commitment to contributing positively to society through education, community engagement, and humanitarian initiatives.
The Deck recognises that preparing the next generation for the future requires creating opportunities for young people to acquire knowledge, discover their interests, and develop the confidence to explore new possibilities.
By introducing students to Artificial Intelligence in an accessible and engaging setting, the initiative sought to encourage a mindset of curiosity, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Looking Ahead:
As Artificial Intelligence continues to influence how people learn, work, and solve problems, initiatives that introduce young learners to emerging technologies remain important to building a more informed and innovative society.
AVD remains committed to supporting programmes that promote education, inspire young people, and encourage the responsible application of knowledge for the benefit of communities.
The outreach concluded with a message for the students: the future is not only something to prepare for, but something they can help shape through learning, creativity, and responsible innovation.
Together, let us keep giving, keep inspiring, and keep creating smarter minds for a smarter future.
